A Florida man has been arrested on charges of arson and first-degree murder following incidents involving house fires in Floral City, according to law enforcement officials.

William Larsen allegedly set fire to his own home before attempting to start a second blaze in the area. During the second incident, a man who attempted to intervene and stop Larsen from setting the additional fire was fatally stabbed, authorities said.

The sequence of events began when Larsen allegedly burned down his own residence. He then moved to another location where he attempted to start a second fire, prompting a bystander to try to stop him.

Law enforcement officials have charged Larsen with both arson in connection with the house fires and first-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of the man who tried to intervene. The investigation into the incidents is ongoing.

Floral City is located in Citrus County, Florida, approximately 75 miles north of Tampa. Authorities have not released additional details about the motive behind the alleged crimes or the identity of the victim.
