A 137-year-old section of the Eiffel Tower's original staircase will go up for auction in Paris next month, offering collectors a chance to own a piece of one of the world's most recognizable landmarks.

The staircase segment dates back to the tower's construction in the 1880s and represents part of the original infrastructure of Gustave Eiffel's iron lattice tower, which was completed in 1889 for the Paris Exposition.

Auction houses expect the historic piece could command a significant price given the rarity and provenance of authentic Eiffel Tower components. The tower has undergone numerous renovations and modifications over its nearly 140-year history, with original elements occasionally becoming available to collectors.

The Eiffel Tower, standing 330 meters tall, remains one of Paris's most visited tourist attractions and a symbol of French engineering achievement from the late 19th century.
