Former CIA Director John Brennan has called for President Donald Trump's removal from office under the 25th Amendment, citing recent statements about Iran as evidence of unfitness for the presidency.

Brennan, who led the intelligence agency during the Obama administration, made the remarks during an interview with MSNBC on Saturday. He specifically referenced Trump's recent comments about potentially destroying Iranian civilization as justification for invoking the constitutional provision that addresses involuntary removal of a president.

The 25th Amendment, ratified in 1967, allows for the removal of a president who is deemed unable to discharge the duties of office. The process requires action by the vice president and a majority of cabinet members, or alternatively by Congress.

Brennan argued that Trump's volatile rhetoric regarding Iran demonstrates a pattern of behavior that poses risks and merited consideration of the constitutional remedy. The former intelligence chief characterized the president's statements as evidence of being unfit for office.
