Rockstar Games Confirms Data Breach by ShinyHunters Group
Gaming company Rockstar Games confirmed hackers accessed company data through a third-party provider breach, with ShinyHunters group claiming responsibility.

Rockstar Games confirmed Saturday that some of its data was compromised in a security breach involving a third-party provider. The company, known for the Grand Theft Auto franchise, said the incident would have no impact on its operations.
The hacking group ShinyHunters claimed responsibility for the breach, stating they gained access to Rockstar's systems through the company's Snowflake cloud hosting instances. The hackers reportedly accessed these systems via Anodot, a cost-monitoring and analytics service used by the gaming company.
According to reports, ShinyHunters is demanding a ransom payment by April, though specific details about the ransom amount or exact deadline were not disclosed. The group has not publicly released any of the allegedly stolen data.
This marks the second time Rockstar Games has been targeted by hackers. The company previously experienced a major security incident that resulted in the leak of early gameplay footage from the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI.
Snowflake is a popular cloud-hosting provider used by many enterprise customers to store and analyze large amounts of data. The breach appears to have exploited vulnerabilities in third-party services rather than direct attacks on Rockstar's primary systems.
