Microsoft Tests Virtual Mouse Feature for Xbox Handhelds
Microsoft is testing a new Gamepad Cursor feature that allows users to control a virtual mouse using the left stick on Windows-based gaming handhelds.
Microsoft has begun testing a virtual mouse cursor feature for Windows-based gaming handhelds running Xbox mode. The new Gamepad Cursor option enables users to control an on-screen mouse pointer using the left analog stick of their handheld device.
The feature is currently being tested on devices such as the Xbox Ally X. It provides an alternative input method for navigating Windows interfaces and applications that require mouse control when using the Xbox interface on handheld gaming devices.
While some manufacturers like Asus have developed their own cursor solutions integrated into their software suites such as Armory Crate, Microsoft's implementation represents the company's native approach to addressing mouse control needs on handheld gaming systems.
The Gamepad Cursor feature is part of Microsoft's ongoing efforts to optimize the Xbox experience for portable Windows-based gaming devices, which have grown in popularity as alternatives to traditional gaming laptops and desktop setups.
