Microsoft Ends Production of Surface Hub 3, Cancels Surface Hub 4 Plans
Microsoft is reportedly discontinuing its Surface Hub collaborative display line after nearly a decade.
Microsoft is ending production of its Surface Hub 3 collaborative office display and has canceled plans for a Surface Hub 4, according to a report from Windows Central.
The Surface Hub series consisted of extra-large digital whiteboards with built-in PC functionality designed for office collaboration. Microsoft originally announced the product line in 2015 ahead of the Windows 10 launch, offering the displays in 50-inch and larger sizes.
The devices were positioned as premium collaborative tools for corporate environments, featuring touchscreen capabilities and integrated computing power. The Surface Hub was part of Microsoft's broader strategy to expand beyond traditional personal computers into specialized workplace technology.
Microsoft has not officially confirmed the discontinuation or provided details about existing customer support for current Surface Hub installations. The decision appears to mark the end of nearly a decade-long effort by the company to establish a presence in the collaborative display market.
The cancellation of the Surface Hub line comes as Microsoft continues to focus on other hardware initiatives and cloud-based collaboration services.
