Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons to Resign at End of May
Todd Lyons, who has led Immigration and Customs Enforcement since March 2025, will step down at the end of May to move to the private sector.

Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Todd Lyons will resign at the end of May, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin announced Thursday.
Lyons submitted his resignation letter to Mullin and will step down from his position on May 31. He has led the federal immigration enforcement agency since March 2025.
According to the New York Times, Lyons cited spending more time with his family as a reason for his departure. He plans to transition to the private sector following his resignation from the agency.
Lyons has served with ICE for 20 years and will remain in his role through the end of May to facilitate the transition to new leadership. He has previously spoken about increased threats against ICE officers during his tenure.
The resignation comes after what sources describe as a challenging period for the agency under the current administration's immigration enforcement policies. Mullin's office confirmed the departure in a statement released Thursday.
