Study finds limited conservative content in Google News; NBC poll shows Trump approval drops
A new study examines political balance on major news platforms while polling data shows shifting approval ratings for the president among demographic groups.

A study by AllSides, an organization that classifies news outlets by political orientation, found that approximately 1% of articles in non-customizable sections of Google News come from outlets the group categorizes as right-leaning. The research examined content distribution across major news aggregation platforms including Google News, Yahoo News, and Bing News.
AllSides, which describes itself as nonpartisan, conducts regular assessments of news outlet political leanings through a combination of editorial review, community feedback, and third-party analysis. The organization's methodology involves rating outlets on a spectrum from left to right based on story selection, framing, and editorial positions.
Separately, new polling data from NBC News shows demographic variations in presidential approval ratings. The NBC News Decision Desk Poll, conducted in partnership with SurveyMonkey, indicates that approval ratings vary significantly across age groups and other demographic categories.
According to the polling data, 76% of Americans under 30 expressed disapproval of President Trump's job performance, while 24% of voters in that age group indicated approval. The poll results suggest notable differences in approval ratings when broken down by age demographics.
The study on news platform content distribution comes amid ongoing discussions about media representation and algorithmic content curation on major technology platforms. News aggregation services use various factors to determine which stories appear prominently, including user engagement, source credibility ratings, and algorithmic recommendations.
