Florida Man Scheduled for Execution After 2000 Double Murder Conviction
A Florida man faces execution next month for a 2000 double murder conviction, while separately, another man was arrested for a 1993 Bronx double murder.

A Florida man is scheduled for execution by lethal injection next month after Governor Ron DeSantis signed a death warrant for his 2000 double murder conviction. The execution date follows the completion of legal proceedings in the decades-old case.
Separately, law enforcement officials have made an arrest in an unrelated 33-year-old double murder case from the Bronx. Police arrested William Antonio Solis in Florida in connection with murders that occurred in 1993.
The 1993 case had remained unsolved for decades despite investigators recovering fingerprint evidence at the crime scene. The murders took place while the victims' child was present in an adjacent room during the incident.
Authorities identified Solis as a suspect only last year, more than three decades after the original crime occurred. The breakthrough in the case demonstrates how cold case investigations can yield results even after extended periods.
Both cases highlight ongoing criminal justice proceedings involving decades-old murder cases, though they represent different stages of the legal process - one moving toward final resolution through execution, and another beginning the judicial proceedings following an arrest.
