Chevron CEO warns of higher airfares, flight disruptions in coming weeks
Chevron CEO Mike Wirth predicts air travel disruptions and higher fares due to fuel supply issues from Middle East conflict.

Chevron CEO Mike Wirth warned that air travelers could face higher fares and fewer flight options in the coming weeks due to disruptions in global fuel supplies.
In an interview with CBS News "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan, Wirth said the aviation sector would "probably get worse over the next few weeks" as airlines grapple with fuel supply challenges.
"Flights may not be as abundant as they otherwise would have been," Wirth told Brennan. "I think planes will probably be more full than they would have been. And yes, fares, fares could be higher."
The Chevron executive attributed the expected disruptions to ongoing conflict in the Middle East affecting global oil and gas supplies, which has contributed to rising energy prices. The war has created supply chain pressures that are now impacting the aviation industry's access to jet fuel.
Wirth's comments suggest that travelers should prepare for potential scheduling changes and increased costs as airlines adjust to the tighter fuel market conditions. The aviation industry relies heavily on steady jet fuel supplies to maintain flight schedules and competitive pricing.
