Louisiana State Police announced Friday the arrest of four men in connection with the 1982 murder of 16-year-old Roxanne Sharp, a case that remained unsolved for more than four decades.

The four suspects face murder charges in Sharp's death. Her body was found in a wooded area following what police describe as a rape and murder.

Investigators said tips generated by a true-crime podcast that state police were involved in producing helped lead to the arrests. The podcast focused on Sharp's case as part of efforts to generate new leads in the cold case investigation.

State police troopers credited both the podcast-generated tips and improvements in investigative technologies for the breakthrough in the case. The combination of new information from the public and enhanced forensic capabilities allowed investigators to make progress after decades without arrests.
