Trump evacuated from White House Correspondents' Dinner after gunshots at Washington Hilton
President Trump was escorted from the annual dinner at the Washington Hilton after shots were fired, prompting evacuation of attendees.

President Donald Trump and other attendees were evacuated from the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday evening after gunshots were fired at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C.
Trump was midway through conversations at the annual event when loud bangs rang out at the venue. Security personnel quickly escorted the president and First Lady Melania Trump to safety as the situation unfolded.
CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, who was attending the dinner, reported being within feet of the shooter when the incident occurred. Blitzer described seeing what he characterized as a serious weapon and hearing gunshots fired in close proximity to his location.
The White House Correspondents' Association announced that the remainder of the dinner has been canceled and will be rescheduled. The venue, the Washington Hilton, is the same location where an assassination attempt was made on President Ronald Reagan in 1981.
Authorities apprehended a suspected shooter in connection with the incident. The extent of any injuries or the motive behind the shooting has not been disclosed by officials at this time.
