Green Party leader Zack Polanski did not vote in the recent local elections, despite previously telling Hackney mayoral candidate Zoë Garbett "you have my vote," the Green Party has confirmed.

Polanski was campaigning in Wales on polling day when the elections took place. A spokesman for the Green leader had initially indicated that Polanski had cast a postal vote in Hackney the day before the election.

However, the Green Party later acknowledged that Polanski had not actually voted in the local elections. The admission came after questions were raised about his voting record following his public statement of support for Garbett.

The incident has drawn attention to the voting practices of political leaders during election periods. Polanski's absence from his home constituency on polling day while campaigning elsewhere highlights the scheduling challenges faced by party leaders during election campaigns.
