Two US Navy jets collided midair and crashed during an air show at Mountain Home Air Force Base in western Idaho on Sunday, prompting a lockdown of the military facility. All four crew members safely ejected from the aircraft before impact, officials confirmed.

The collision involved two EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft from Electronic Attack Squadron 129 based at Whidbey Island, Washington, according to Commander Amelia Umayam, a spokesperson for Naval Air Forces, US Pacific Fleet. The incident occurred during the Gunfighter Skies Air Show at the base located approximately 50 miles south of Boise.

Videos posted on social media showed the two aircraft striking each other before spinning toward the ground, with four parachutes visible as the crew members ejected. The base was immediately placed under lockdown following the crash, and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene.

The annual air show, which features flying demonstrations and parachute jumps as a celebration of aviation history and modern military capabilities, was canceled following the incident. The US Air Force Thunderbirds were scheduled to headline both days of the event.

Weather conditions at the time included good visibility with wind gusts up to 29 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Mountain Home Air Force Base officials said an investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.

The 366th Fighter Wing public affairs office declined to provide additional details beyond confirming that responders were on scene and investigating the incident.
