President-elect Donald Trump's designated envoy to Greenland has arrived in the territory's capital city of Nuuk, according to reports Tuesday.

The envoy's arrival comes amid Trump's renewed interest in Greenland, which he has previously expressed desire to purchase from Denmark. Trump had appointed the envoy as part of his incoming administration's approach to the strategically located Arctic territory.

Separately, Trump is scheduled to meet with U.S. security advisers on Tuesday, according to a report from Axios. The meeting represents part of the president-elect's ongoing transition preparations as he prepares to take office.

Greenland, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, holds significant strategic importance due to its location between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans. The island hosts important U.S. military installations and has substantial natural resources.

Trump's interest in Greenland dates back to his first presidency, when he floated the idea of purchasing the territory in 2019. Danish officials at the time firmly rejected any possibility of selling Greenland, calling the idea "absurd."
