Austin police arrested two juvenile suspects in connection with 12 random shootings that injured four people and prompted authorities to issue a shelter-in-place order for parts of the Texas capital city.

The shootings occurred Saturday night and Sunday morning across Austin, with at least two incidents targeting fire stations. Four people sustained injuries, including one person with serious injuries and three others with minor wounds, according to Police Chief Lisa Davis.

Authorities initially described the suspects as Hispanic males in their late teens and released what appeared to be video screenshots during the search. Mayor Kirk Watson said at a Sunday news conference that investigators had not identified a specific motive and that the actions appeared to be random.

Police said the suspects appeared to be stealing vehicles as they moved throughout the city, using at least four different vehicles during the shooting spree. The vehicle thefts occurred as part of the suspects' movements between shooting locations.

The city ordered residents in a large portion of southern Austin to shelter in place Sunday while police conducted their search. The shelter-in-place order remained in effect until the arrests were made.

The investigation into the shootings continues as authorities work to determine the full scope of the incidents and any potential motives behind the random attacks.
