A Bahamian man who survived a plane crash off the Florida coast was arrested Friday on federal charges of smuggling cocaine into the United States.

The man was among 12 people who were stranded at sea following what authorities described as a harrowing aircraft crash. All passengers and crew members were successfully rescued from the waters.
