Microsoft has announced the launch of its Surface Pro 12 and Surface Laptop 8, both powered by Intel's latest Core Ultra Series 3 processors. The new devices represent the company's latest refresh of its flagship Surface lineup.

The timing marks a shift in Microsoft's release strategy compared to previous generations. Two years ago, the company introduced Arm-powered versions of the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7, with Intel-based models arriving more than six months later in the product cycle.

This time, Microsoft has reversed that approach, launching Intel-powered versions of its Surface devices first. The decision suggests the company is prioritizing Intel's latest processor technology for the initial rollout of these refreshed models.

The Core Ultra Series 3 processors represent Intel's newest chip architecture, offering improved performance and efficiency compared to previous generations. These processors are designed to handle demanding computing tasks while maintaining battery life for portable devices like Microsoft's Surface lineup.

Microsoft has not yet announced whether Arm-powered versions of the Surface Pro 12 and Surface Laptop 8 will follow, or provided specific availability dates and pricing for the new Intel-based models.
