The Mint stated it is currently in the design stage for the commemorative coins, with production expected to take several months. No final design has been approved for the coins intended to mark the nation's semiquincentennial milestone.

The delay comes as the precious metals industry experiences renewed interest across the United States. Montana is considering relaxing restrictions on precious metals mining that have been in place for three decades, reflecting the mining industry's recent resurgence.
