Twelve people were killed Sunday morning when a plane carrying skydivers crashed near Butler Memorial Airport in Missouri, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Emergency responders received a call around 11:30 a.m. reporting that a plane was down and engulfed in flames, said Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Justin Ewing. The aircraft crashed in a field adjacent to the airport in Butler, located approximately 65 miles south of Kansas City.

The plane was conducting skydiving operations when the crash occurred, with authorities confirming that all 12 occupants were killed. Fox News reported the victims included 11 skydivers and one pilot, though other sources did not provide this breakdown.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, with Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers assisting the Butler Police Department and Bates County Sheriff's Office. As a precautionary measure, authorities shut down nearby roadways while emergency crews worked at the crash site.
