Fox Corp. announced it will acquire streaming platform Roku in a cash-and-stock deal valued at approximately $22 billion, marking one of the largest transactions in the streaming industry. The deal, priced at $160 per share, is expected to close in the first half of 2027 and will create what Fox describes as the third-largest television company in the United States.
The acquisition represents Fox's major push into the streaming market as competition for streaming audiences intensifies. The combination aims to provide significant scale for both companies in the increasingly crowded streaming landscape, allowing Fox to expand its digital presence while giving Roku access to Fox's content library and distribution capabilities.
In other major corporate developments, SpaceX completed what sources describe as a record-breaking initial public offering, raising a total of $85.7 billion after underwriters exercised their overallotment option. The aerospace company's shares jumped in their second day of trading following the historic IPO. Notable investor Ron Baron purchased $1 billion worth of SpaceX shares in the offering, bringing his total stake to $25 billion.
Separately, Salesforce announced it will acquire AI customer service platform Fin for approximately $3.6 billion. The enterprise software company said it plans to use Fin's team and technology to enhance its existing Agentforce platform, which helps businesses build custom AI agents for task automation. The acquisition reflects the growing consolidation in the artificial intelligence sector as companies seek to strengthen their AI capabilities.
Additional corporate activity includes American Express's agreement to purchase Tripadvisor's restaurant booking platform TheFork for $700 million, further demonstrating active merger and acquisition activity across multiple sectors.
