Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass met with President Trump at the White House on Wednesday to discuss Federal Emergency Management Agency assistance for areas of the city still recovering from devastating wildfires that struck in January 2025.

Bass described the meeting as a "positive discussion" about FEMA help for wildfire recovery efforts. The mayor shared a photo of the meeting on social media platform X.

The Palisades and Eaton wildfires that occurred in January 2025 caused extensive damage across Los Angeles County. The Palisades fire alone destroyed nearly 7,000 buildings and resulted in 12 fatalities.

The meeting comes as Los Angeles continues recovery and rebuilding efforts in areas affected by the wildfires. Bass traveled to Washington to advocate for federal funding to support ongoing relief efforts.

Meanwhile, concerns have emerged about fire preparedness infrastructure. A key reservoir in the Palisades area that was empty during the January fires remains empty again, raising questions about water availability for future firefighting efforts.
