Antigua and Barbuda PM Browne Wins Fourth Term in Snap Election
Gaston Browne's Labour Party secured 15 of 17 parliamentary seats in Antigua and Barbuda's snap general election, giving him a fourth consecutive term as prime minister.

Gaston Browne has won a fourth consecutive term as prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda after his Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) secured a decisive victory in snap general elections held this week.
Preliminary results show the ABLP winning 15 of the 17 seats in parliament, delivering Browne a commanding mandate to continue leading the Caribbean nation. The prime minister had called the snap election ahead of the constitutionally required deadline.
Addressing supporters early Friday morning following the results, Browne declared victory and thanked voters for their support. "You have spoken, you have spoken clearly. You have indicated that the Antigua and Barbuda Labour party is the best institution to run this country," he told the gathering.
Browne campaigned on promises of continued economic growth for the twin-island nation. His previous three terms have focused on developing tourism infrastructure and expanding the country's economic base beyond its traditional reliance on tourism and agriculture.
The electoral victory extends Browne's tenure as one of the longest-serving leaders in the Eastern Caribbean. He first took office in 2014 and has maintained consistent electoral support despite various regional and global economic challenges, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Caribbean tourism.
Antigua and Barbuda, with a population of approximately 100,000, operates under a Westminster parliamentary system where the party winning the majority of seats forms the government and its leader becomes prime minister.
